Choice Overload

We've all been there: standing in front of a gelato counter on holiday, drooling over the mountains of ice cream flavors we never knew existed. The pressure to make the right decision, to pick the flavor that will bring us joy and satisfaction for the rest of the day. Trying so desperately to avoid the feeling of disappointment, unfulfillment and wasted money.

It’s only a bloody ice cream! But, this small insignificant life decision can be an overwhelming one. Now compare this to how much more mentally suffocating that feeling is when bigger decisions are to be made. Decisions in relation to our appearance, like what to wear.

It's no secret that having too much choice can hinder our ability to make decisions efficiently. Living in a world where we have endless choice at our feet, coming out of our ears, and slapping us in the face. It’s totally acceptable to become paralyzed by indecision. This is especially true when it comes to our appearance.

When a wardrobe is filled with an abundance of clothes, accessories, shoes – in a multitude of varying styles – this amplifies the difficulty in the outfit decision process. Now add the small matter of styling yourself to a time limit. BOOM! Prepare for frustration level 3000. When self-styling in a rush to get out the door and with too much choice, feelings of stressful anxiety deflate you.

This is where the concept of a Capsule Collection comes into play. A Capsule Collection is a minimalist approach to personal style that involves curating a tight, cohesive wardrobe of clothing that can be easily mixed and matched to create countless outfits. But most importantly, this collection hold items that work for you and with you. Each and every look can be identified as belonging to you.

By limiting the number of options you have, you‘re simplifying life for smoother decision-making.

The idea behind a Capsule Collection is to have a wardrobe that is functional, versatile, and timeless. Instead of having a closet filled with clothes you only wear once in a while, a Capsule Collection is made up of pieces that team perfectly well against one another. I always say to clients, ‘you should be able to close your eyes, go into your wardrobe to pick out any pair of trousers, any top and any jacket - and the outfit will work!’

The chances of you being disappointed and unfulfilled with a chosen look at extremely slim. That feeling having left the house and being unsure of how you look is extremely slim.

When choice works in your favour; every outfit styled will be your flavour.
